System requirements

Computer

  • Mac with Apple silicon (M-series). Intel Macs are not supported. The installer includes an Intel build specifically for running Natron 2.5 under Rosetta on Apple silicon.
  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
  • Memory: we recommend at least 16 GB of unified memory for UHD and larger timelines. Grain, halation and bloom are processed at full resolution, so memory use grows with frame size.
  • Rendering: Ashigrain uses the GPU through Metal when your editing application makes it available to plugins. Otherwise, it uses the CPU. See Host compatibility for each application’s rendering method.

Host applications

Ashigrain works as an OpenFX plugin in these applications:

  • DaVinci Resolve or DaVinci Resolve Studio, version 20 or later. Resolve is the primary application used for development and testing.
  • Other OpenFX applications: see Host compatibility for supported versions and setup notes.

In DaVinci Resolve

  • Edition: both the free edition and DaVinci Resolve Studio are supported.
  • Download: use the edition from Blackmagic Design. The Mac App Store edition does not support activation.

Add Ashigrain as a node on the Color page or as a clip effect on the Edit page.

Installation and activation

  • An administrator password to install the plugin.
  • An internet connection for activation and licence renewal, at least once every 30 days.
