Installation
Before you begin, check the system requirements and find your editing application in the compatibility table.
Install
- Sign in and open your account. Select Download for macOS to get the latest installer,
Ashigrain-<version>.pkg. Earlier versions are also available. You can download with any confirmed account and try the plugin with a watermark before purchasing. Activate a licence when you are ready to remove the watermark. - Close your editing applications, including DaVinci Resolve or Nuke.
- Open the
.pkginstaller and follow the on-screen steps. Enter your administrator password when asked to install in the system OpenFX folder. - Reopen your editing application and add Ashigrain from the OpenFX effects. See Where to find Ashigrain.
The plugin is installed at:
/Library/OFX/Plugins/Ashigrain.ofx.bundle
DaVinci Resolve, Nuke and SCRATCH look for OpenFX plugins in this folder. Use the top-level /Library folder, outside your home folder. If Ashigrain does not appear, see Troubleshooting or contact support.
To update, run the newer .pkg installer. Your activation and saved presets stay in place.
When an update is available, the activated plugin shows a notice in About. Select Get update to download it from your account. Ashigrain checks for updates during online licence renewal when your editing application loads the plugin; the notice appears after your next control adjustment. You choose when to download and install it.
Where to find Ashigrain
Find Ashigrain in your editing application:
- DaVinci Resolve: on the Color page, add it as a node from the Effects library, OpenFX category. On the Edit page, add it to a clip as an effect from the Effects library, OpenFX category.
- Nuke, NukeX, Nuke Studio, Nuke Indie: Nuke adds a menu item for each OpenFX plugin to its main menu.
- Flame, Flame Assist, Flare: in the Batch node bin, in Batch FX, in the Timeline FX ribbon, or in the Modular Keyer node bin. Flame has no control pages; it shows Ashigrain’s controls in tabs after the “Plugin” tab, one column per group.
- Natron: runs Ashigrain only under Rosetta; see Natron only through Rosetta.
- Fusion Studio, SCRATCH, Live FX, Baselight and other hosts: look among the host’s OpenFX effects.
If Ashigrain does not appear in your host, see Troubleshooting.
Activate your licence
Activation removes the “ASHIGRAIN TRIAL” watermark. Each licence covers one Mac at a time. Have your account details and an internet connection ready; all controls are available in trial mode while you get set up.
- Install the plugin, then sign in to the account you used to purchase your licence.
- Open your editing application, add Ashigrain to a node or clip, and open the plugin controls.
- In About, select Activate. The activation page opens in your browser, and the plugin displays a code such as
BCDF-GHJK. - Check that the browser and plugin show the same code. Choose your licence if you have more than one, then select Activate on the website. If the licence is already in use, the page shows both Macs before you confirm the transfer.
- Return to your editing application. The next render will be free of the watermark. In About, the License field shows “Licensed”, your licence ID and the next renewal deadline.
The code expires after 15 minutes. Select Activate again to get a new one.
Activate once to use Ashigrain in every compatible application on this Mac, under your macOS user account.
Each additional Mac needs its own activation, including Background Reactor machines and Nuke render Macs. Renders from unactivated machines carry the trial watermark.
Ashigrain renews your licence in the background when your editing application loads the plugin online. You can work offline for up to 30 days after each renewal. Activation data is stored at:
~/Library/Application Support/Ashigrain/activation.json
When you activate, the plugin sends our server this Mac’s machine hash (a one-way hash of its hardware UUID, never the UUID itself), its computer name and the plugin version. Each renewal sends the machine hash and the activation’s id and renewal secret. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is sent and when. If activation fails, see Troubleshooting.
Move to another Mac
Transfer your licence whenever you change computers:
- From the old Mac: in the About section, press Deactivate. This needs an internet connection. Then activate the new Mac as described above.
- Without access to the old Mac: activate the new Mac. The activation page moves the licence, and the old Mac returns to trial mode at its next online check. You can also press Deactivate next to the activated Mac on your account page.
Uninstall
-
Select Deactivate in About to free the licence for another Mac. You can also do this later from your account page.
-
Quit every application that uses Ashigrain.
-
In Terminal, remove the plugin and the installer’s receipt:
sudo rm -rf /Library/OFX/Plugins/Ashigrain.ofx.bundle sudo pkgutil --forget com.ashigrain.pkg.plugin -
Optional: to also remove this Mac’s activation and your saved presets, delete your user data folder:
rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/AshigrainKeep this folder if you plan to reinstall and want to retain your activation and presets.
Some applications cache their plugin list. See Troubleshooting for instructions on refreshing it.
Existing projects will show Ashigrain as a missing effect until you reinstall the plugin.
